Mother to Child Transmission Plus Initiative (MTCT-Plus Initative)

Pada tahun 2001, kerangka konsep MTCT-Plus Initiative dikembangkan dan dilakukan di Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.

Elemen fundamental dari MTCT Plus Initiative adalah menghubungkan program PTMCT; Family Centered Care dan Pelayanan HIV spesifik seperti berikut:

·         Funding to support staff

·         Funding to support key laboratory tests, such as CD4 cell count and diagnostics for infants

·         Funding to support costs incurred by people living with HIV/AIDS,such as transport

·         Funding to enhance site capacity and infrastructure

·         The Clinical Manual, and treatment algorithms

·         Central procurement of MTCT-Plus medicines :antiretroviral drugs, cotrimoxazole,isoniazid,dapsone, multivitamins and others

·         Staff training

·         Site support

·         Data management

·         Programme evaluation

Model ini menyediakan pelayanan terintegrasi yang meliputi: pencegahan klinis, nutrisi, keluarga berencana, konseling dan pendukung; ARV bila teriindikasi

Pelayanan minimal yang disediakan pada MTCT Plus mencakup:

1.       Health care for adults and children living with HIV/AIDS

2.       Early diagnosis of infant HIV-infection status

3.       Clinical and immune monitoring

4.       Prevention of opportunistic infections

5.       Antiretroviral therapy

6.       Education and counselling

7.       Adherence support

8.       Social and psychological support

9.       Outreach and community linkage

10.   Retention in long-term care

11.   Prevention of transmission to others
